Bargain Candy, BYOB and Potluck Parties

To save money during Halloween time, you should focus on making treats and decorations rather than buying them.

For candy goodies, you could shop at a bulk/bargain store, such as Costco or Food for Less. You'll end up with more candy at a cheaper price tag. Go for the less popular candies, as they are significantly less expensive than the KitKats and Reeses peanut butter cups are.

Something like gummies or store brand candy is ideal. If you start stocking up earlier, you'll feel better about your purchases because you will not have to pay a lot of money at one time. This will help you stay on your monthly budgets by contributing to your candy supply little by little.

For party decorations, use cheap paper and crayons to create pumpkins, streamers, and ghosts. There's no need to buy expensive decorations when you can cut out a pumpkin or ghost out of paper and hang that up instead!

Reuse the same decorations year after year, and you won't have to pay as much every season. Resist buying new decorations unless your older ones go missing or get destroyed.

Ask guests to bring their own food or drinks to your party. Make it a pot luck or a BYOB party. No one will think it's odd, and you'll get to save the money you would normally spend on party snacks and liquor.
