Birthday Surprise Party That Cost Very Little
by Mai Ling
My boyfriend decided to throw me a surprise party and told everyone attending to bring their own food instead of gifts. People went out of their way to cook Chinese and pastries, and we end up having more food than we could possibly eat. I even got a couple of presents, as well. People were so excited about all the food, and it was a lot cheaper for them to prepare something than go out shopping for a present. One of the guys took care of the music, so he didn’t spend anything at all, just his valuable time to prepare a soundtrack and carry over his sound system. Another girl took care of the balloons, so she just put in her lung-power. I had the balloons in my room for a month until they started deflating. A friend who’s into photography brought his camera and covered the event taking high quality pictures which he later uploaded on Facebook. Another guy raided his father’s wine cellar and brought over two bottles. It was a great party and it cost next to nothing.
