Cheap Transportation

Tips to Save Gas | Living Without a Car

Cheap transportation can mean anything from using your car less, to not using it at all. Tired of shelling out at the gas pump?

For tips to save on gas try these tips...

  • Whenever possible, leave your car at home. Walk to the corner store instead of driving.
  • Think about whether you really need a car, if you live in a big city. Companies like zipcar.com will rent shared cars by the hour.
  • Keep your vehicle maintained. Make sure your tires are in good condition.
  • Take public transport whenever you can. In some countries (like Canada) a yearly public transit pass is tax deductable. Or ride your bike.
  • Consider trading your car in for a scooter. They're fuel efficient and easy to maintain and drive.
  • Consider moving somewhere you can use your car less.
  • Make sure the model car you drive is fuel efficient. Gas guzzlers are no longer economically viable.
  • Co-ordinate your errands, doctors' appointments, etc, so that you're making one trip, not multiple trips.
