Coupons, Post-Christmas Sales, and Potluck

by Alicia

How to save money during the Christmas Holidays (can also be used for other holidays).

I use several different methods to save money during the holidays.

Let's start with the holiday meal of Christmas. I start collecting coupons from newspapers, websites and emails in September. I collect these right through to December. Then I begin to contact the major manufacturing companies of food that I normally purchase.

When i contact these companies I tell them about the products I use, what I am looking for (coupons, discounts, free coupons) in hopes to save for my holiday meals.

Then I continue with holiday savings on wrap and cards. I always purchase these during the post-christmas sales. This saves a lot of money down the road. In order to save money on presents but to ensure everyone spends the same amount we do a gift exchange with names chose a few months before and a limit capped.

There are many ways to have an inexpensive party; some of the methods I use are to have a potluck, to only use reusable cutlery, plates and napkins, to limit decorating and to bake homemade desert.
