Domestic Energy Conservation Tips

Here are some energy saving tips that are very simple and easy to put into use:
1.Try to turn off the computers whenever you finish your work. Use 'Sleep mode" setting when not in use. Always turn off the computer peripherals like scanners, printers etc when not in use as it consumes a lot of electricity.
Try to configure the computer as it saves power and is very simple. The method is as follows: Windows 98/ME/2000/XP:
1. Click the Start menu and select "Settings"
2. Select "Control Panel"
3. Double-click "Power Management" in the window that opens,
4. Click the "Power Schemes" tab at the top of the window
5. Select "Home/Office Desk"
6. Set "Turn off monitor" and/or "Turn off hard disks" to 15 minutes
2.Try using Compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs)which use about two-thirds less energy than incandescent bulbs to save energy and always use good quality marked electrical appliances and equipments.
Don't use Lights in the morning, instead keep your doors and windows open so that you can get light as well as fresh air.
3.Make sure that the refrigerator door seals are airtight and that there is enough space between your refrigerator and the walls so that air can easily circulate around the refrigerator
4.You must clean the dust accumulated on lights and bulbs regularly. This will help to maintain proper illumination.
5.Try to use air conditioners having automatic temperature cut off.
