Don't Just Stick to Your Size
by Sinead
When shopping at second hand stores for dresses, skirts, or tops, don’t just look in your size! My best finds have been in the size 13 aisle, when I’m a size 6 girl. If you’re in love with a dress you see at the store, but it’s 4 sizes too big and much too long and baggy… Simply hem the length (easily done by hand) and put a belt around the waist. This works almost every time! As for shirts, they can easily be altered. Get creative and see the pieces for what they COULD be not for just what they ARE! Another thing I always find as an awesome thrift store bargain are belts. I love how through the decades, belts have transformed but have generally remained fashionable for generations on. Thrifts stores usually have a wide variety of real leather (braided, thin, thick, etc.), wide, elastic, bright…If you’re looking for a belt- the thrift store is where to go.
