Get Creative Instead of Extravagant This Christmas

by Justin Howard

With Halloween behind us now, we march on into November heading straight for Thanksgiving. It won't be long before all the leaves are gone and we find ourselves settled into December.

Yes, it's almost Christmas time, and right now is the time to start thinking about all those gifts you need to be getting together.

With a lot of people hurting for money right now, it's time to get creative. Just because you might not be able to afford an extravagant Christmas doesn't mean you can't afford a joyous Christmas.

I have found that making useful hand-made gifts is a great way to save money during Christmas time. For instance, I know a lot of elderly people who love crafty hand made things. A lot of them grew up during a time where a person's work ethic and craftsmanship was highly respected.

With that in mind, begin thinking of useful things that you could easily make or assemble yourself. One example might be making a walking stick. I have personally done this lately and it turned out beautiful.

Another idea might be getting online and ordering some candle-making supplies and assembling your own gift baskets instead of just buying one from Bath and Body. You will probably come out way ahead, plus knowing it is homemade will make it far more personal to the recipient. The possibilities are endless.

We have just gotten to a point in this day and age that it is just so much easier to run to the store to get something that we could easily make ourselves.

Just start brainstorming and then if you need some help putting something together, just get online. I'm sure you can find information on just about anything you might need help with.
