How to Save Money on Halloween
by Rae
1. Candy & Treats - We all know that with Halloween comes screaming hordes of excited children fully prepared to stock up on candy. We also know that these sugary treats can be awfully expensive and cost a pretty penny. How can you lessen the blow on your wallet? It's simple. Depending on the area you live in, and thus, the amount of kids you expect to get to your home, buy candy in bulk. Buying the largest size tub or bag of chocolate bars or bags of chips available will cost you less than if you were to buy several smaller bags of candy. If you think you're going to need it, buy it all in bulk. 2. Costumes - Naturally, on Halloween, the streets will also be filled with ghosts, goblins, and overjoyed little monsters on the prowl, and assuming you have children of your own (or are in the market for a costume for yourself), a little help can go a long way to help cut the cost. Costumes can be expensive, and if money is tight, why not make one yourself. All you need to do is get creative! Sure, it's a little bit easier said than done, but a little patience and a little creativity can go a long way. I have personally been making my own costumes myself for the last 10 years, and my get ups always a hit at my Halloween parties. Browse your home for any items or materials that could be used to construct a costume, draw up a quick sketch, and most importantly, think outside the box. Follow these steps, and you'll have a lovely costume in no time. While those are my two foolproof strategies to save money on Halloween, the fun doesn't stop there. There are all kinds of other ways you too can save money around the holidays, but you'll need to use your imagination to come up with your own based on your own specific situation.
