Inexpensive Christmas Gift Ideas for Teachers
by Alannah
I remedy this by choosing gifts carefully throughout the year. I always browse the clearance racks and aisles for unique things my nieces, nephews, and children would like. Not only does this allow me to buy nicer gifts than I could otherwise, it also spreads the expense out through the year. For example, my husband and I usually find gifts that once retailed for over $60 in our $10-$20 budget. Last year I was able to cash in some of my credit card reward points for adorable dolls that my nieces adored. When it comes to teacher gifts we like to get creative. I always purchase cute gift tins, boxes, sacks, or baskets in the after Christmas clearance. These work great for putting together a homemade gift basket. One year we filled the beautiful tins with pretzel rods dipping halfway in chocolate and almond bark sprinkled with Christmas sprinkles, crushed Oreos, or crushed peanuts. For less than $10 we had made gifts for 4 teachers. This year I was able to get my hands on some really inexpensive apples and made apple butter and sauce so we will decorate the jars and make “apple for the teacher” gift baskets. Teachers really seem to love these personalized, handmade gifts.
