Make Your Gifts, and Use Imagination
by Urska Breznik
Saving money on presents for holidays This is the part of every holiday that normally sucks everybody dry. But it shouldn't have to be like that. I know that me personally didn't spend more than $15 on a single present in over 3 years. But everybody is always more than pleased and they say they like my presents the most. I always make useful things. For example: Photo albums, paintings, I always make hand made cards(you can save a few bucks only on these), I knit sweaters, make jewelery and doll-houses, I sew clothing, I once just painted an ordinary rock with simple flowers and wrapped it up and gave it as a paperweight. My friend loved it! He said it really brings his office to life. Hand made gifts are always the best way to go, as long as they are useful. But... I consider myself a very crafty person, so if you're not good at being creative, you could still go buy a set in which you already have all the materials and blueprints on how to make it, so with that it's really easy as 1-2-3! And you have loads and loads of different sets to choose from, pretty much anything you could imagine. On the other hand, if you are really an anti-creative person you could just go to an antique shop or second-hand shop(they usually don't sell only books and worn clothes. I once found an unbelievable ring there and I paid $20 for it. Almost nothing for a piece of jewelery. I only later discovered when I wanted to find out how old it rally was, that the stone inside was a really huge sapphire and silver ring and it was more than 300 years old. It's worth a fortune. But that's not important. What is, is that you could find unbelievable things in the least believable places. Just make gift shopping a nice fun-filled field trip, you'll be amazed on how many cool stuff you can find. Just remember: Not everything cheap is cheap:)
