Make Your Own Homemade Christmas Cards

by Linda

The holidays are a wonderful time of year, but they can really be hard on your wallet.

Here are some of my family’s tips for saving money around the holidays. We love sending those nice, glossy photo postcards to our friends and relatives, but they are so expensive! By the time you add in the postage to mail the cards, you could’ve sent your loved ones a gift for what you spend on a card.

So what’s our solution? We’ll be sending homemade photo cards this year. You can get digital photos printed at many stores for as low as $0.10 a piece during a sale, so we’ll be making use of that.

Cut red or green cardstock (available at any office supply store) in half, then in half again, leaving you four small cards. Punch two small holes at the top of the card stock and your photo, and secure them together with a festive ribbon bow.

Write your holiday message on the back of the cardstock, and you have a homemade photo card for a fraction of the cost. If the kids are helping, they can add stickers, glitter, or their own personal note to make it even more special.

Happy holidays!
