Make Your Own Witch's Potion

by Booo A Helfrich

Witch’s Potion Ingredients

Halloween is one of our family’s favorite holidays! We grew up making our own decorations. Everything from cardboard tombstones, to fake ghosts, and hand built coffins.

Over the years we have honed our skills and having been working on our Witch’s “cabinet”.

We wanted to have a bunch of different jars with all of the witch’s potion ingredients. I spent the year collecting every glass jar we used. After getting a nice collection, we spray painted the tops black and silver. Next it was time to fill them with creepy wonderful things!! We used all sorts of things; charcoal ashes, corn syrup with food coloring, fake eye balls, fake moss, and whatever else we could find! We then printed up some quick labels and “aged” them by rubbing a little dirt and water over them.

We attached the labels and we had started the beginning of our Witch’s ingredients! We placed the bottles on wood stumps around our witch and placed fake snakes and mice around.

We had used highlighter in a few bottles, so we shined a black light on those bottles to make them glow. This can be such a great cheap Halloween decoration project. The kids will love getting to pick out what get’s to go in the bottle, and creating names for each of them!

Enjoy and Happy Halloween!!
