My Four Top Tips for Saving Electricity
by Malcolm
First and foremost, in all of the rooms in my house, I use energy-saver light bulbs. They cost a little more, but they don't use near as much electricity and last longer, and in the long run, I feel that the money you save off your bill is more than enough to cover the cost of the bulbs. Second, I make sure to keep my furnace as clean as possible, as an electrician friend of mine told me that if your furnace is kept clean and properly lubricated, it won't require near as much energy to run and heat your home when it's cold out. Third, I always turn the temperature in my home down a few degrees at night. Naturally, this will make your home a little colder, but if you snuggle up under a warm blanket, you'll hardly notice a difference. Lastly, when I do my laundry, I always make sure to wash full loads, instead of just a few articles of clothing here and there. This method is self-explanatory, I'd assume, as the less loads you do, the less energy you'll be wasting. Those are my four, crucial tips to cutting costs, and I've found they are all quite effective.
