Retailers Raise the Prices on Holiday Food

by Willa

Naturally, we can all agree that the holidays (and Christmas in particular) can be one of the most expensive times of the year.

With that said, fear not, there are in fact surefire ways to cut costs, and that's where I come in. Here are some unique and effective strategies I use around the holidays in an effort to save money:

1. Food - Believe it or not, many stores and retailers will the raise the prices of "holiday" food without you knowing. To counter this, if it's convenient for you, buy any foods that can be stored for an extended period of time (turkey, etc.) well ahead of the holidays, in an effort to avoid paying jacked up prices when Christmas rolls around.

2. Presents - Shopping for presents can not only be a huge hassle, but an expensive one at that. What is my solution to keep the cost as low as possible? Buy online. Amazon.com and other great retails offer quality gift ideas for lower prices than retail stores advertise.

Save money by buying gifts online, and keep your eyes peeled for sales and special offers around the holidays.

Implement those two strategies, and the blow to your wallet when Christmas rolls around will be significantly less powerful.

Why waste your hard-earned money when you don't have to? We all want to have a merry Christmas, you just need to use your imagination, rack your brain, and keep your eyes open, and you'll be just fine.
