Save Money on Halloween Costumes

by Madeleine

Halloween is a holiday with a lot of hidden costs.

Although you won't be buying anyone presents or flying home to celebrate the holiday, picking an awesome costume might end up breaking your budget for the month.

But it doesn't have to! If you want to have a great costume on Halloween, choose based on what you already have rather than what your ideal costume would be.

Maybe you have some vintage dresses lying around or cool makeup colours that you already never use. Can you come up with a creative way to use what's already in your closet?

You can always choose a generic theme, such as punk, hippie, or mod. Costumes like that require less specific details and will end up costing you less money in the long run.

You'll be able to buy a piece or two from a thrift store, rather than having to seek out special products in more expensive Halloween stores, boutiques, and malls.

If your friends have older costumes in their closets that they aren't using, don't hesitate to borrow something. They'll be glad their older duds are getting a second use out of them, and you'll have a cheap way to spend Halloween in style.
