Save at the Pump
- If no cars are behind you, coast towards the yellow or red light. There is no point in accelerating or giving your car gas only to have to brake a few seconds later.
- Watch gas station signs as you drive to and from work each day. You can usually find one specific gas station that consistently offers gas at the lowest price. By fueling up at this station, you are getting the most for your money, while also rewarding this good company with your business.
- Also, by keeping mindful of current gas prices, you can more accurately judge when it is most economical to fill up the tank. You may notice that gas prices jump on Fridays. This is because many people fill up on the weekends in order to take weekend road trips.
Save around the House
- At light fixtures with multiple bulbs, un-screw one or more of the bulbs to save on energy. You can always screw these bulbs back in if you are expecting company or want more light in that room.
- Aldi is my newest money-saving craze. The bare-bones grocery store offers grocery items at 20-50% savings compared to "luxury" grocery stores. I'm amazed every time I shop at Aldi. How can they afford to sell groceries for so cheap? Customers are simply asked to bring their own bags and bag their groceries themselves. They also require you to lend a quarter to use a shopping cart, which is refunded to you once the cart is returned.
