The Thrill of Thrifting

Hand Drawing in Original Frame
I love the thrill of going into a thrift store and finding a unique item at a cheap price. Rather than decorating my home in brand-new, high-priced items, I furnish my home with vintage and unique finds. I do not want my house to look like a cookie cutter version of everyone else's home. I want my home to stand out.
I have found many decorative paintings, that look rustic and vintage. Some of my favorite thrift shop finds include the following:
1) A red leather stool with wooden base for less than $10.
2) A large, old, detailed frame that I use to display magnetic poetry words. Only $7!
3) A print of a painting from the artist, Rosemond.
4) A mirror that original came with a dresser set. I bought the mirror alone and use it as a decorative piece because of its ornate detail. Bought it for less than $10.
5) One of my all time favorite finds is a hand-drawing a woman from an unknown artist. It is still in the original frame that I bought it. The paint is peeling off the frame and there are watermarks on the drawing, which add character. Only $7. See picture.
It is such an amazing feeling to find a unique item you love, that you got for a good price. I always wonder where the items came from and the story that they carry with them that we'll never know.
