Thrift Store Veteran

I have been shopping in thrift stores for over 40 years--I'm dating myself here. And I have dressed myself with thrift store purchases during that time.
Two blocks from where I live is a Hospice thrift store. It is one of the best I have had the pleasure to shop in.
My most recent purchases included a new Hanro bra--in my size!. It is not one of Hanro's top-of-the-line bras but it is the kind I like to wear. Another purchase I made recently was, again, a new white terry cloth bathrobe, by Land's End.
I have purchased excellent sweaters, Docker's pants and a variety of wonderful blouses and tops--again, some of these items were new with tags still on them.
It takes persistence and regular shopping to find the best buys in a thrift store. If you consistently patronize a thrift store and are friendly and outgoing toward the staff, you might find they begin to know what you are looking for and will direct you to something that has recently been put out on the floor.
The only drawback to shopping at thrift stores is the impulsive buy--the item is attractive and the price is right. I have a few of those in my closet which I have not worn yet but my excuse is that they really didn't cost that much.
Also, remember that most thrift stores need volunteers to help with sorting, tagging and stocking the store. A few hours a week will be greatly appreciated. It also gives you an early look at the new items that come in.
