Thrifted Lime Green Overalls for My Daughter

Several years ago, my daughter who is turning 23 this week, was going through a phase.

Her favorite color was lime green.

I asked her if there was anything special she wanted. Her response was, “I want lime green overalls.” I said okay to her but in my mind I’m thinking, “Wow! Where am I ever going to find those at a price I can afford?”

Well, you guessed it. I walked into a thrift store about a week before her birthday and not only did I find a pair of lime green overalls but they were her size.

Even though there wasn’t an original price tag on them they looked brand new. The price tag said $5.00. However, when I got to the register, they rang up at $2.50.

WOW! again. She was SO surprised. It was great.

But there’s another funny story that goes along with those overalls. They were passed down to her sister who wore them for a couple of years (even though her color phase was everything orange – haha).

Anyway, there was a boy in her class who lived in a house that was lime green – yes, lime green! So my youngest daughter wore those overalls to a study session at the lime green house.

Well, when my husband went to pick her up, she was standing against the wall of the house. The overalls were the same color as the house and she blended in so well that my husband walked right past her!

It was hilarious.
