Thrift Stores are Great for Christmas Decorations
by M Morrow
We generally spend an entire Saturday afternoon making the rounds, going from thrift store to thrift store around the area. That is the key to making good finds. It is also necessary to look at everything, and not go there with the idea of finding something specific. That way you are never disappointed by what you didn't find. The last time we went out on the hunt, we made some really great finds. I was able to get an office chair that's in pretty decent condition, so I could finally throw out the old folding chair I had been using! And it cost me less than five bucks. At the same store, I happened upon a pair of wine glasses that were in very good condition for only 88 cents. For another 88 cents, I was able to purchase a set of three miniature wine glasses that I now use as tea-light candle holders. Last Christmas was my first year at a new apartment, and I had to buy all new Christmas decorations. Thrift stores saved my wallet big time, and I was able to spend more on gifts for my friends and family. I was able to get all kinds of Christmas and holiday decorations for a fraction of the cost it would have been to buy new. I found decorations for the tree, as well as all kinds of knick knacks to display around the house. Thrift stores can almost always produce a good find, if you just look hard enough.
