Turn off the lights when not in use.

Light color paint coating helps the day light not only penetrate but to reflect so that more natural light is available.

Use CFL bulbs instead of Incandescent bulbs thus not only one can get lower electricity bill but also good for environment.

Using irons with automatic temperature cut off and don't use the iron on wet clothes.
