Virtual Boy

by Matthew D
(Cleveland, OH US)

One of my favorite thrift store finds was the time I found a Nintendo Virtual boy. The virtual boy was an odd 3-dish gaming system that Nintendo released in the early 90's. It's known as Nintendo's only commercial and critical failure.

There are only a hand full of games available and the systems can be hard to find.

One day my son and I wandered into to one of our local thrift stores and we're looking at the toy section when I saw that baby. I had really fond memories of playing my friend's Virtual boy as a kid, and had wanted one to display at my house for a long time. Imagine my surprise when I find that the Virtual Boy system, a controller, and a game (Wario World) was only $2. I snapped that baby right up and ran home to play it.

It is now proudly displayed in my family room. Also another bonus is I paid $2 for a system that sells for $50ish online...it was a very good thrift store day.
